Bamboo Door Guards
These symbolic guards are part of a tradition dating back to at least the 4th
century BC. Beginning in the Song dynasty (960-1279), people in China started to put images of door gods, or calligraphy on
both sides of their main entrance to prevent misfortune and invite the good Qi. This bamboo pair not only serves the above
purposes, but, also brings you elegant decor with its 3 distinctive elements: wood, water (color black), and Metal (characters
engraved in gold).
It is 10" wide, naturally curved, and 4' high. The pair is carved from a
single piece of bamboo. A famous Chinese poem describing the beauty of nature was engraved in gold on the bamboo. You can
personalize these pieces with a short message, as part of the order.
